2 Earthquakes Shake South Bay Overnight

GILROY (CBS SF) -- Earthquakes of 2.5 and 3.7 magnitudes have struck the Gilroy area in Santa Clara County Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblors occurred at about 1:35 a.m. and 2:05 a.m.

The smaller quake struck about 4 miles south-southeast of Gilroy and had a depth of 5.3 miles; the larger of the two - which was downgraded from a 3.9-magnitude initial reading - was about 5 miles south-southeast of Gilroy and 4.2 miles deep.
