Daily Madden: It's Too Early To Crown The Seahawks

SEATTLE (KCBS) - In a much-anticipated showdown of two top NFL teams, the Seahawks dominated the New Orleans Saints in Seattle Monday night, winning 34-7.

"When you play Seattle at home, you know it's going to be tough," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "Then when they get up on you as quickly as they did and (the Saints) had an early turnover and all those things that happened to New Orleans, they just got into a hole so early, there was just no way they could dig out of it."

Despite Seattle's impressive win over another division leader, Madden said it's way too early to place them in the Super Bowl.

"Just because they won last night, and just because right now people say they're the best team in the NFL, the NFC and so on, that doesn't win you anything. They don't give out trophies and stuff for being the best team this week."

Madden said Seattle fans had a lot to do with the poor showing by quarterback Drew Brees and the Saints.

"You (combine) outdoors and a little weather in there with that crowd and that noise, it's hard to play. It's not the same. Everything (Brees) has in New Orleans and the dome is the exact opposite when he goes to play in Seattle. The play gets in there later, you're just a half beat late in the snap count and getting off the ball... When you get disrupted by that crowd and so on, it doesn't work." (7:25)
