Man Shot Dead In Vallejo; SWAT Action Fails To Find Suspect

VALLEJO (CBS SF) - A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in Vallejo on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The victim has been identified as Vallejo resident Emil Z. Rodriguez, according to police.

At about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Vallejo police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the area of Chesley Court and Tregaskis Avenue.

Officers located Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound in the vicinity of Webb and Cedar streets.

Rodriguez was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Vallejo Police detectives were called to investigate the homicide, police said.

Officers said that evidence and witness statements led police to search for the suspect in the 500 block of Vervais Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, police said.

Detectives obtained search warrants for two houses in the area.

The Vallejo Police SWAT Team served both warrants, according to police. He was not located during the search of the area and remains at large, police said.
