Manufactured Home Fire Extinguished In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Firefighters quickly put out a blaze at a manufactured home in San Rafael Thursday night, a fire chief said

Crews from the San Rafael and Marinwood fire departments responded to a report of a blaze at a home in the 300 block of Yosemite Road at about 9:45 p.m., San Rafael fire Chief Chris Gray said.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the master bedroom of a two-bedroom, single-family manufactured home in the Contempo Marin neighborhood, Gray said.

Gray said three occupants at the home safely exited the home prior to crews arriving at the scene.

The fire was contained to the master bedroom and adjacent bathroom in 10 minutes. The other bedroom, bath and living area sustained some smoke damage, and possessions were salvaged, he said.

No one was injured in the blaze. The cause remains under investigation, however, it appears to have started in an area near the furnace, Gray said.

The home sustained an estimated $35,000 in damage.

Gray said no smoke detectors were found in the home. American Red Cross is assisting the three occupants of the home with temporary housing.
