Search On For Driver In Deadly Oakland I-580 Motorcycle Crash

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday morning in a possible hit-and-run collision on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in West Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two left lanes of westbound I-580, just east of I-80, are blocked due to the collision, according to the CHP.

The CHP received a report of the incident at 6:23 a.m. and a Sigalert was issued at 6:43 a.m., the CHP said.

The motorcyclist has been identified as an adult male, but his name has not yet been released pending notification of his next of kin.

The CHP is searching for a possible suspect vehicle, described as a dark blue 2000-model Chevy Silverado.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and traffic was congested for miles on 580 following the crash.
