OutKast Announces 40-Date Festival Tour

(CBS SF/RADIO.COM) - After galvanizing hip-hop fans (and puzzling clueless newbies) with the announcement that they'd reunite to headline Coachella 2014, OutKast have revealed an upcoming tour of more than 40 festivals worldwide to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Going from the must-see Coachella headliner to this year's oversaturated festival act in less than a week has to be some sort of record.

Many Bay Area fans are speculating for a San Francisco Outside Lands stop, however there's no exact word on which festivals OutKast will play. With 40 appearances in the mix, it's bound to be a global endeavor.

Andre "Andre 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton announced the news on Twitter Monday morning:

"It's truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose," Big Boi said via the band's official website (which has seemingly crashed). "Don't just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans – stank you smelly much, this is for y'all!"

"And imagine, all we wanted to do was rap!," added Andre 3000. "I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting Outkast."

The news of the two rappers reconvening after going on hiatus back in 2007 was leaked late last year, and was officially confirmed last week with the release of this year's Coachella line-up. The Coachella announcement was followed by the news that the duo will also be headlining this year's Governors Ball festival in New York.
