1 Suffers Minor Injury In San Jose 3-Alarm Blaze

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A three-alarm structure fire in San Jose injured one person and caused heavy damage to a commercial building Sunday morning, a fire captain said.

The blaze was first reported at a construction business in the 1800 block of Almaden Road at about 11:20 a.m., San Jose fire Capt. Rob Brown said.

Arriving firefighters reported seeing a column of thick smoke and heavy flames coming out of the back of the single-story building, Brown said.

The blaze was stopped from spreading to other buildings and contained just before noon, he said.

An employee at the business was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, he said.

No other injuries were reported.

An office in the building containing business records and computers was saved from significant damage, Brown said.

Fire officials were expected to remain at the scene until late Sunday afternoon, he said.

The cause remains under investigation.
