Practice Rounds Begin At Pebble Beach For AT&T Pro-Am Tournament

MONTEREY (CBS SF) -- Golfers and celebrities are teaming up this week in the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, a popular tournament on the Monterey Peninsula that begins with practice rounds Monday.

Phil Mickelson, John Daly, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk are among the golfers confirmed for the tournament, which runs from Thursday to Sunday at three courses—Pebble Beach Golf Links, Monterey Peninsula Country Club's Shore Course and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

The list of celebrities participating in the event includes San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain, Green Bay Packers quarterback and Cal alumnus Aaron Rodgers, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, hockey great Wayne Gretzky and others.

The events going on this week include the Chevron Shoot-Out, a charity competition pitting current and former San Francisco Giants and 49ers against each other at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, as well as the 3M Celebrity Challenge at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

More than 150,000 spectators come out annually to watch the golfing, according to tournament organizers.
