SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A shooting victim collapsed in front of a home in San Francisco's Oceanside neighborhood on Friday night, police said.

Around 7:25 p.m., a man believed to be in his 40s drove to a house in the 100 block of Bright Street where he banged on the home's gate before collapsing, police said.

The residents called police, and the victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound to his torso, police said.

Police are working to determine where the shooting occurred and who was involved before the victim drove himself to the home.
