SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — A bicyclist was injured Tuesday morning after a collision involving a pick-up truck along the Embarcadero in San Francisco, near the Ferry Building.

About 6:30 a.m., a small pick-up truck was traveling northbound on the sidewalk, in front of the Ferry Building, at about one mile per hour when a bicyclist heading southbound struck the vehicle, according the driver who was remained at the scene.

It was not immediately clear why the truck was on the sidewalk. Delivery trucks sometimes cross the sidewalk in the area to access the back side of the Ferry Building and surrounding businesses.

The shaken-up driver, who did not want to use his name, told KCBS that he didn’t see the cyclist coming who hit the side of his vehicle clipping the side mirror and then fell to the ground.

The cyclist was still conscious and there was blood on the sidewalk, the driver said.

The cyclist was transported to a hospital and the scene was cleared by 7:30 a.m. after the northbound lanes were closed for short time.
