San Francisco Officer Fires Shots Into Stolen Car

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- San Francisco Police have recovered a stolen car that was involved in an officer-involved shooting in the North Beach neighborhood.

It happened around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Montgomery Streets, Saturday morning.  An officer in a special license plate recognition patrol car came up with a positive hit on a stolen vehicle.

The officer approached the car with her gun drawn and realized someone was behind the wheel.  The suspect began to drive away but the car door was ajar. It flung open, hitting the officers gun. causing it to fire.


The suspect fled, but the stolen car was later recovered in the 700 block of Clay Street. The car was punctured by a bullet, but there was no evidence of injuries.

The officer suffered a minor shoulder injury. Police were still attempting to locate the suspect.
