Will Ferrell Rejects Prom Invite From Danville Teacher, Students

DANVILLE (CBS SF) – Funnyman Will Ferrell will not be attending prom at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, despite a campaign by students and staff to entice the ‘Anchorman’ star.

Teacher Chad Cochran thought that the ‘Old School’ actor would make a good chaperone for the Senior Ball and created a video promising a school bus ride, chocolate fountain and supermarket-bought boutonniere in exchange for Ferrell’s participation.

Cochran says he is happily married and but his wife is unable to accompany him. He created the video after a lesson on how videos go viral. It had been viewed nearly 20,000 times since it was posted last month. He didn’t get a response from the initial video, and created a second one featuring the students themselves:

Ferrell’s publicists has since responded saying he’s in Europe for the time being and can’t attend the May 10th dance. Cochran says students and teachers are sad, but thankful he responded to their request.
