San Jose Infant Dies After Father Allegedly Left Him Strapped In Car Seat All Day

SAN JOSE (CBS) -- San Jose police were investigating an infant death after a father allegedly left his baby strapped in a car seat all day while he went to work. When the father returned to the car, he discovered the infant unconscious. The baby died a short time later.

Police received a report of an unresponsive infant in a vehicle in the 3700 block of Payne Avenue at about 7:14 p.m.

Infant Dies After Being Left In Car In San Jose

When officers arrived they learned the father was supposed to drop off the infant at the babysitter's house before he went to work, but forgot. He parked his car on the street with the infant inside. It is not clear how many hours the child remained inside the car while the man was at work.
