South Bay Cooling Centers Open With Potential For Triple-Digit Heat

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Cooling centers have been set up throughout Santa Clara County during this week's heat wave.

The centers are located in facilities such as senior centers or community centers.

With a forecast for hot and possibly record-breaking weather on Wednesday, health officials are emphasizing the importance of preventing heat-related illness.

According to Amy Cornell, spokeswoman for Santa Clara County's Public Health Department, locations of the cooling centers are listed on the county's website www.211scc.org, or by calling 211.

People can go to the air-conditioned comm unity facilities to cool off during the facilities' normal business hours.
