Kristi Yamaguchi Promotes Childhood Literacy In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Olympic gold medalist and Bay Area celebrity, Kristi Yamaguchi returned for a second year hosting "Reading Adventures" event at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo in San Jose this past Saturday (May 17). All of which is part of Kristi's Always Dream Foundation, committed to connecting children with books and technology.

Yamaguchi was joined on-stage with San Francisco 49er Will Tukuafu and sharing hosting duties, Franco Finn, the Hype-Man for the Golden State Warriors. Children book authors Dave Keane known for his book "Sloopy Joe" and "Daddy Adventure Day" and author Bob Barner of "Bugs, Bugs, Bugs" both shared the joys of reading with the Happy Hollow guests by reading some of their favorite stories.

Entertainment for all guests included literacy-themed project stations, puppet and animal shows, animal meet & greets and a special appearance by Disney Jr.'s Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve Goings and dancer Constantine "DC" Abramson.

Franco Finn had the opportunity to chat with Kristi Yamaguchi about the importance of early childhood literacy (above). Franco also talked to Disney Jr.'s Choo Choo Soul about their involvement with Kristi's "Reading Adventures":

Since 1961, the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo has been a destination for many Bay Area families. It's a unique combination of amusement park rides, play areas and an accredited zoo in the middle of the South Bay.
