Coroner IDs Man Killed On West Oakland BART Tracks

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man struck and killed by a BART train at the West Oakland station on Friday night was identified Saturday as a 22-year-old El Cerrito resident, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Tyler Worden was struck on the San Francisco-bound tracks at the West Oakland station shortly before 10:15 p.m., BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

Worden was walking along the tracks outside of the platform area where passengers and the public are not permitted, she said.

All trains were stopped between the West Oakland and Embarcadero stations as authorities worked to clear the tracks, Trost said.

Shortly after midnight, the tracks were cleared and trains resumed service at the West Oakland station in both directions, she said.

Passengers in the involved train stayed inside the train as emergency crews cleared the scene and once service resumed were able to continue their trip towards San Francisco, according to Trost.
