SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – South Bay pot clubs are apparently fired up about joining a “Weed for Votes” campaign in an effort to get pro-marijuana candidates elected Tuesday.

Last week the Silicon Valley Cannabis Coalition announced they planned to hand out marijuana to people who could prove they cast their vote. On Monday, the group released a list of participating dispensaries.

“To encourage voting tomorrow, throughout San Jose collectives are offering everything from discounts to free medicine for members who come in with an “I Voted” sticker or ballot stub on June 3rd,” the Silicon Valley Cannabis Coalition said in a press release. “With predictions of one of the lowest voter turnouts in history this Tuesday, cannabis supporters could have a huge effect.”

The group has even suggested a slate of preferred candidates for San Jose and Santa Clara County offices. Statewide, the low turnout could set records.
