Giants' Best Start Since 1962 Fills Fans With World Series Hope

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — The Giants are riding high after a weekend sweep of the New York Mets.  It's their best start since the 1962 season and the fans are thrilled.

The Giants record is now 42-21 and they have the best record in Major League Baseball.

"I think the picked a good lineup. I think they're playing well together as a team. I think they could make it to the World Series again," Cameron Lapointe, who was celebrating his 14th birthday at AT&T Park on Sunday, said.

Fan Joe Rourke told KCBS that the teams' combination of pitching and defense is the best he's seen in decades—even including, he said, the 2010 and 2012 season.
"The way they keep on playing, they got a chance to win a hundred games,' he said.

Meanwhile, across the Bay, the Oakland A's (38-23) have the best record in the American League.

"If these two teams keep on playing—the Giants and A's—they could have a 'Back-To-The-Future' World Series flashback to 1989," Rourke said.
