Vallejo Shooting Victim Dies From Injuries

VALLEJO (CBS SF) — A man who was shot in downtown Vallejo Monday afternoon died of his injuries, police said.

At about 2:20 p.m., police received a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Capitol Street, located about two blocks from Vallejo City Hall.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.

Vallejo police officers initiated life-saving first aid measures until the rescue personnel arrived, police said.

The victim, later identified as 44-year-old Vallejo resident Willie Troy Johnson, was transported to a nearby hospital’s trauma center where he was pronounced deceased.

Anyone who may have witnessed this shooting or may have information about the incident is asked to contact police detectives Fabio Rodriguez or Raul Munoz at (707) 648-4524.

No suspect information has been released.
