Stolen Minivan Strikes Cab In SF Tenderloin, 2 Bystanders Injured

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A stolen vehicle struck a pedestrian, a bicyclist, and a taxi in a hit-and-run collision on the corner of Post and Jones streets on Monday, a police spokesman said.

At 10:18 p.m., police attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic infraction violation at Larkin and Post streets. The vehicle, described as a minivan, fled and ran a red light before colliding with a taxi two blocks away, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The impact of the collision sent the vehicles onto the sidewalk, injuring the pedestrian and cyclist. The cyclist sustained critical injuries according to Esparza.

Two passengers in the taxi cab were injured along with a second person who was in stolen minivan. The driver faces numerous felony charges. Meanwhile the cyclist fights for his life at San Francisco General Hospital.
