Traffic Jams At Levis Stadium Seem Inevitable

SANTA CLARA (CBS) -- We've been hearing from a lot of 49ers fans, who aren't exactly thrilled about the parking situation at Levi's Stadium.

Closing time at Great America gives you a glimpse of how quickly traffic can stack up right next door.

The opening of the new 49ers playground in just a few weeks has a lot of folks worried about the inevitable traffic jams.

That's why the 49ers just put out a series of new videos instructing fans on how to park. But will they make much of a difference?

The 237 in Santa Clara is one of the feeder roads leading into the stadium. They are two lane roads, which could be a potential problem.

There's Tasmine Road, leading up to the stadium. Once again two lanes, and once again, expected to be a traffic nightmare.

Tricia Alvarez is worried about traffic.

"They need to open more lanes, if this is all they have in and out it's going to be horrible," said Alvarez. "People are not going to be happy."

As for public transportation, Caltrain will be running more trains, including two extras from San Francisco to Mountain View on game days.

Fans will have to to get off their train, cross the tracks and catch the VTA all the way down to the stadium.

Should they decide to park their car at a VTA station, they'll have to catch the train into the stadium, but there are not a lot of parking spots in these lots.

So, if you chose to brave the traffic and still want Niners tickets, standing-room only seats go on sale next Tuesday. There's a catch, though. In order to buy them, you have to sign up for the "Faithful 49" online rewards program.
