Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Trying To Kidnap Richmond Girl Walking Home From School

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of trying to kidnap a 15-year-old girl as she walked home from school in Richmond last month was arrested on Thursday night, a police lieutenant said Friday.

Joshua Mann, 30, was arrested at his Richmond home around 5:45 p.m. Thursday after a resident who had seen his photo on television spotted him and called 911, Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said.

Police had asked for the public's help in identifying Mann, who was captured in two photos by the father of the teenage girl he allegedly
tried to pull into his car on Aug. 22.

The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. as the teen was walking home from Kennedy High School near South 39th Street and Florida Avenue, police said.

The girl was able to break free from the man's grasp and ran away.

Police said she spotted the suspect three days later while with her family in the 700 block of 23rd Street.

Her father snapped photos of the suspect and chased him but lost sight of the man after he jumped over neighborhood fences.

Mann was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and taken to county jail in Martinez where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
