Adam Sandler To Make Four Movies For Netflix

LOS GATOS (CBS NEWS) – Netflix is joining forces with Adam Sandler in its latest foray into original content.

The actor and comedian has struck a deal to star in and produce four feature films exclusively for the online streaming service, it was announced Thursday.

"People love Adam's films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages -- everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line -- not just in the U.S. but all over the world," said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only. Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks," Sandler said. "Let the streaming begin!!!!"

On Instagram, he joked that he was trying to sign up for Netflix but ended up signing the four-picture deal instead.

Under the deal, Sandler's Happy Madison Productions will work alongside Netflix to develop the four films and premiere them exclusively to subscribers in the nearly 50 countries where the company operates. Sandler's current movie studio commitments are not included in this deal.
