1 Dead, 1 Rescued After Pair Stuck On San Francisco Cliff

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- One person has died and another has been rescued after becoming stranded on the rocks near Lands End in San Francisco Thursday afternoon, a fire spokeswoman said.

One person was pulled out of the water and was pronounced dead at the scene while the second victim, a 27-year-old man, was pulled to safety from some rocks, according to San Francisco Fire Department Mindy Talmadge.

Fire crews responded around 12:10 p.m. to reports of two people stuck on rocks over a cliff in the area of El Camino Del Mar and 32nd Avenue, Talmadge said.

Fire department rescue swimmers and some boat crews responded to the scene and both the U.S. Coast Guard and National Parks Service were notified.
