Knife-Wielding Suspect At Large After Attempted Robbery On A Petaluma Street

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A man armed with a knife and wanted for an attempted robbery early Sunday morning in Petaluma is at large, a police sergeant said.

Around 1:50 a.m., a male victim was walking in the area of Stanley and Howard streets where the suspect approached him and asked for a cigarette, Petaluma police Sgt. Andrew Urton said.

When the victim said he didn't have one the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened him, according to Urton.

The suspect then fled on foot east on Washington Street, Urton said.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing around 170 pounds with short brown hair and no facial hair, police said.

He was last seen wearing a white San Francisco Giants jersey with the name "Bonds" on the back and blue jeans, according to police.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Petaluma police Officer Espionza at (707) 781-1221.
