Missing 12-Year Old San Francisco Girl May Have Been Sold Into Sex Slavery

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Police believe a 12-year old girl missing for ten days from San Francisco may have been sold into the sex trade.

Imani Howell has recently been spotted in trafficking hot spots in the Bay Area.

"It's a nightmare you can't wake up from.  You can't help but think the horrific things that could be happening to her," Imani's Godmother Barbara Glaspie told KPIX 5.

Imani was spotted in San Francisco's Mission District, and on International Boulevard in Oakland.

Emily Murase of the San Francisco Police Department says searching for Imani every day is vital, as some girls are quickly shipped out of town.

She thinks Imani might try to reach out.

"It's so important that people who know her, that she might be reaching out to forward that information," Murase said.

Glaspie is pleading for Imani's return.

"I'm begging you baby.  Please come home.  Please call.  Do anything you can do to let us know you're okay."
