Wettest Parts Of Bay Area Could See 8 Inches Of Rain By Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Dense fog Friday clung to the Bay Area Friday, but that was expected to quickly give way to rain late in the day, ushering in days of wet weather and inches or rain for the drought-plagued region.

Models show rain moving south across the state and bringing wave after wave of showers to the entire Bay Area as soon as 7 p.m. Friday and lasting as late as Wednesday.

By Sunday night alone the North Bay could see about 3 inches of rain and and up to 2.5 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to KPIX 5's Brian Hackney.

"Finally we're getting some pretty good showers moving into the Bay Area," said Hackney.

As much as 8 inches of rain are forecast for the North Bay by Wednesday. The wettest parts of the South Bay could see six inches.
