49ers Fan Traces Lost Phone To Levi's Stadium, Security Refused To Give It Back
SANTA CLARA (KPIX 5) -- A 49ers fan who lost a cellphone at a recent game at Levi's Stadium tracked the phone's exact location, but her plea to get it back from stadium security fell on deaf ears.
Sandy Levoe will never forget her first game at Levi's Stadium. While the 49ers lost to the Rams, Levoe also lost her Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.
"Go and use the restroom, you have that clip, you put it down, and you walk away from it," Levoe recalled, "And then you realize it's gone."
But Levoe got lucky, or so she thought, when she got a message from a stadium employee telling her the phone had been turned in.
"Plus I went to my locator and found that my phone was in Levi's Stadium...says it's within three meters of Levi's Stadium," Levoe recalled.
But when Levoe showed up at the stadium to retrieve her phone, she was in for quite the surprise. They said no.
Citing policy concerns, and more than 80 lost phones, she said stadium security refused to let her find her phone, even though an app clearly showed it was just feet away.
Levoe contacted KPIX 5 ConsumerWatch and we contacted the 49ers, which said the phone is now gone, along with all of her contacts and photos from her wedding day.
The 49ers said in a statement, "We will make every attempt to reunite guests with their items, but Levi's Stadium is not responsible for any lost or damaged items."
The organization said they're generally donated to charity, and in Levoe's case, the Niners have now agreed to pay to replace her lost phone.
Something Levoe is very grateful for, but she is still slightly frustrated.
"I know I lost my phone. I lost it. It's my fault. I am not blaming them. The only thing I am upset is that day, I could have had it back," she said.
