Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Committee Launches Niners-Raiders Food Drive
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee is launching a holiday campaign to address childhood hunger in the Bay Area during the 49ers-Raiders game in Oakland on Sunday.
The committee's goal is to raise $150,000 in cash -- which, they believe, will buy $900,000 worth of food -- for the designated food banks of the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
People are encouraged to donate via:
- text message (text "TOUCHDOWN [donation amount]" to 41444)
- Twitter (tweet @50Fund [donation amount] with hashtag #tinygive)
- online at www.50Fund.org
Donations will be matched 2 to 1, up to a total of $50,000, by The Safeway Foundation and the host committee's recently-launched legacy fund.
Donors will have a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLIX on February 1, 2015, in Glendale, Arizona.
