Silicon Valley Techie Competing In The Amazing Race 26

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- When The Amazing Race 26 premieres Wednesday, February 25, at 9:30 pm, the Bay Area will be rooting for its homeboy, Bergen Olson.

The Sunnyvale resident is a Human Resources Project Manager for a tech start up in Silicon Valley.

This Amazing Race starts in Tokyo, Japan and will hit 5 continents and eight countries.

"I can't wait to see different cultures and experience the different ways that people live all over the world!," says Olson. "It will open my eyes to things I haven't seen before."

This season promises to be 'the most extreme blind date ever,' matching five singles with a partner to race with around the world. The 23-year-old is one of those 'singles' and confesses he's been in 5 relationships that didn't last a year. "Hopefully that will change soon," he adds.

When asked what accomplishment he is most proud of, Olson says, "not to sound cliché, but coming out and being proud of who I truly am to my friends and family… was one of my proudest accomplishments."

Olson's Amazing Race partner, 24-year-old Kurt Jordan Belcher shares the proud accomplishment. The Kentucky native came out in high school.

When asked what famous people remind them of themselves, combined, this pair has an interesting list: Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah, Melissa McCarthy and Carol Channing.

This is going to be a fun ride!
