$7,000 Prosthetic Leg Found Leaning Against Tree In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) — Police in San Francisco are searching for the owner of a prosthetic leg worth several thousand dollars that was found on the street after they failed to step forward and claim it.

The leg is valued around $7,000, but they are custom made, so it isn't of much use to anyone but the owner.

An officer found the limb at Eighth and Market streets with a brown shoe attached, and picked it up for safekeeping. The officer checked with a one-legged panhandler who begs in front of a San Francisco mall.

But when police went by, the man was there begging. His leg was hooked to the back of his wheelchair.

The owner of the leg should contact San Francisco police.
