Giants Slugger Hunter Pence Hit By Pitch, Breaks Arm In Spring Training Game

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (CBS SF) – Outfielder Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants was injured during a spring training game Thursday and could miss opening day.

The Giants confirmed earlier reports that the outfielder fractured his left forearm after he was hit by a pitch during a game against the Chicago Cubs, adding the right fielder would be out for several weeks.

The CBS San Francisco newsrooms were alarmed.

On Thursday evening, Pence posted this tweet thanking the fans.

San Francisco defeated the Cubs 8-6 Thursday for their first win of spring.

The Giants will begin the 2015 season on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, April 6th, with the home opener scheduled for April 13th against the Colorado Rockies.
