Apple Rumored To Be Plotting Fall Launch Of Subscription TV Service

CUPERTINO (CBS) - The maker of iPhones, iPads and Macs may soon help you get rid of a device, your satellite dish.

The Cupertino tech giant is in talks with TV programmers to offer a Web-based subscription TV service that could launch as early as September, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Citing unnamed sources, WSJ suggested that the service would offer programming from about 25 channels - including CBS - that would be available on all devices running Apple's iOS operating system.

A formal announcement could come as soon as June, with analysts telling CNet that the cost of such a service could fall between $30 and $40.

Apple has declined to comment Tuesday.
