Raiders Add Former 1st Round Pick Trent Richardson To Running Back Crew

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Just days after watching a once promising runner with a high draft pedigree walk out of town the Oakland Raiders have added a new one.

The team announced Tuesday that they reached a two-year deal with Trent Richardson, who has already made stops in Cleveland and Indianapolis since joining the league in 2012.

The NFL.com reports the deal will pay Richardson $3.9 million per year.

Richardson joins a backfield featuring Latavius Murray, Roy Helu and Marcel Reece. Richardson has averaged 3.3 yards per carry over his career since being drafted No. 3 overall by Cleveland.

He scored 12 touchdowns as a rookie but has a total of seven in the past two seasons. The Colts struggled to gain yardage on the ground during the playoff run and Richardson was released by the team last week.

The move comes just days after the Raiders saw former 1st rounder Darren McFadden leave to sign with the Cowboys after failing to live up to expectations in Oakland.
