Neighbors Teed Off By Plan For Pleasant Hill Disc Golf Course In Popular Park

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- Neighbors are teed off over a plan for a disc golf course in Pleasant Hill's Paso Nogal Park.

Scott Anders is behind the plan to build the course.  He built a course at his work, and plays every day.  He credits disc golf with helping him lose 30-pounds.

"Because of activity, exercise; coming outside, getting fresh air, just the attitude adjustment that happens.  You go back into work again, and you're ready to go," Anders said.

Now, Anders wants to bring that activity to Paso Nogal Park, but neighbors worry about the plan.

"If they're going to have Frisbees flying around, I don't think that's a good thing," Pleasant Hill resident Phillip Perez said.

Anders says the course will be safe for other park visitor, and that he "spent two years designing the disc golf course so no one outside of play, or inside of play can be hit by the disc."

But, the site is also home to a popular dog park, and dog owners worry about increased traffic.

"For them to add Frisbee, it will be harder for us to get parking," dog owner Cassandra DuBois said.

Both sides  planned to present their cases to the city Tuesday night.
