UC Santa Barbara Shooting Breaks Out Just Blocks Away From 2014 Deadly Rampage

SANTA BARBARA (CBS/AP) — Authorities say a second suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting and an assault near the University of California, Santa Barbara — just blocks from the scene of a deadly rampage last year.

Santa Barbara County sheriff's spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said early Tuesday that the man checked himself into a hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. He was connected to the crimes and arrested.

Another injured suspect was arrested following the incident Monday night.

Investigators say two men in their early 20s — both UCSB students — were shot during some kind of dispute at their apartment. The victims were treated at a hospital for moderate injuries.

The incident had nothing to do with the rampage in May 2014 that left six UCSB students dead, including three from the Bay Area, and 14 wounded.
