Vallejo To Tighten Water Restrictions Beginning Thursday

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Utility customers in Vallejo have cut back water usage by 27 percent during the last two years, according to city officials, and new water restrictions are being introduced to meet state requirements.

Beginning Thursday, the use of potable water in fountains and water features will be prohibited. Utility customers are also asked to limit their landscape irrigation to 3 days per week from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., according to city officials.

Utility customers with even numbered addresses will be able to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Odd numbered addresses will be able to water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, city officials said.

Repeat violators could be subject to fines, but enforcement will happen in stages. First time offenders could be subject to outreach efforts followed by written notice and administrative citations, according to city officials.

Fines for repeat violations range from $200 to $500.

Violations or leaks can be reported by calling (707) 648-4482. For more information go to www.vallejowater.org.
