KPIX Studios Getting All Dressed Up For A Good Cause

Big doings are going on here at our KPIX studios. Our production studio is getting a new layer of polish, banners and signs are being erected and telephone banks have been established. We are all gearing up for something very special. This Friday, on June 26th, KPIX 5, our sponsors and the San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium–a Bay Area leader in the movement to end domestic violence–are joining to raise funds to help stop domestic violence, and provide aid to victims.
Throughout the last 10 years, I have worked hand in hand with Shepherd's Gate in Livermore. Since 1984, Shepherds Gate has provided Christ centered services and housing to over 11,000 battered and homeless women and children. Women gain their self-confidence and embrace their self-worth. Children learn to smile again. This is why I am so proud to be a part of our upcoming KPIX Telethon! We are joining forces for an important cause. Here are statistics to keep in mind while watching our Telethon this Friday:
- At least one in every three women worldwide has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime.
- Nearly one-third of American women (31%) report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives.
- 15% of domestic violence victims are men.
Odds are, you know someone who are represented in these statistics. It may even be you.
