Father Sought In 6-Month-Old's Daughter's Disappearance Reportedly Shot Dead

SHASTA LAKE (KCBS) - A Northern California man being sought in the disappearance of his six-month-old daughter has been reportedly shot dead by deputies.

Siskiyou County Sheriff's deputies were involved in a shooting in Dunsmuir while searching for a carjacking suspect from Shasta County, according to the Redding Record Searchlight.

The suspect, who was killed, is believed to be 23-year-old Matthew Graham, who vanished Saturday after allegedly stealing a semi-automatic weapon from his mother.

Graham allegedly stole a Shasta Lake couple's car at gunpoint after they found him sleeping in their backyard.

Shasta County sheriff's deputies swarmed the town of Shasta Lake Sunday after people reported seeing Graham there.

Graham reported his daughter, Ember Skye, missing on July 2nd. He says the child disappeared from his home in Happy Valley. Police say he became a person of interest in the case after giving inconsistent statements to investigators.

The search for Graham's daughter continued Monday in the Ono area, about 15 miles southwest of Redding. A pacifier resembling one of Ember's was found there last week.
