Body Found Wrapped In Plastic In Oakland Apparently Killed In Richmond

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A plastic-wrapped body found on a West Oakland street Tuesday morning has been identified as a 24-year-old man who was apparently killed in Richmond, according to Richmond police.

The man, whose name is not yet being released, was found dead and wrapped in plastic around 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of Union Street, Oakland police said.

Richmond police said today that an investigation into the case suggests the murder occurred in their city.

Oakland police detectives are working in concert with Richmond police to investigate the case.

So far, Richmond police said it appears that the killing was not a random act, but is an isolated incident. No other details were being released Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to contact Richmond police homicide detectives at (510) 620-6860.
