1 Killed, 1 Arrested, 3 Hurt In East Oakland Crash
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A 19-year-old Oakland man ejected from a sports car during an early-morning crash in East Oakland was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday, according to police.
Officers in the vicinity of 106th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard heard a collision nearby at 12:38 p.m., and found a Ford Mustang and a Nissan Altima that had been involved in a collision.
A 19-year-old Oakland man was found nearby, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters, according to Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson.
The Mustang's driver fled the scene with another passenger, but they were taken into custody nearby.
The driver was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and arrested, Watson said. Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision.
The driver of the Altima, a 22-year-old woman from Oakland, was also transported to a hospital.
Investigators determined that the Ford's driver had been headed north on 106th Avenue when he hit the Nissan at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard, according to Watson.
The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin. The collision remains under investigation, and anyone with information is being asked to contact the traffic investigation unit at (510) 777-8570.
