Berkeley Armed Robberies Happen Within Hours Of Each Other

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- Two armed robberies occurred within hours of each other Friday night and early Saturday morning at two different locations affiliated with University of California, Berkeley.

The first robbery occurred on Friday at 10:10 p.m. at People's Park. A 17-year-old victim was robbed of his possessions by three male suspects, according to UC Berkeley police.

Two of the suspects are described as black men aged 18 to 20, both wearing beanies. There is no description of the third suspect, according to police.

They were last seen driving eastbound on Dwight Way in a dark blue BMW 328i, police said.

The second robbery occurred at 1 a.m., Saturday in front of UC Berkleley's International House. A female victim was robbed of her purse and its contents by two armed suspects, police said.

According to police, the suspects are both described as black men in their 20s and both wore black hooded sweatshirts and black bandanas covering their faces. The first suspect is described as being 5 feet 7 inches with a medium build and the second suspect is described as being 6 feet with a thin build.

The suspects fled in a small, champagne-colored four-door vehicle southbound on Piedmont Avenue, police said.

After both robberies Berkeley police and UC Berkeley officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. No victims were harmed in either of these instances, police said.
