Oakland Coliseum Using Paper Cups Taped To Ceiling To Stop Leaks

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The Oakland Coliseum is using some old school technology to deal with leaky ceilings, taping paper concession cups to catch drops from falling on reporters.

Chiefs Radio Network reporter Kendall Gammon tweeted a picture of the band-aid solution Sunday from Oakland.

"Yes those are cups taped to the ceiling to help w leaks #NOT Arrowhead @Chiefs"

Chris Dobbins with the coliseum's joint powers authority calls the photos unfortunate. Dobbins says the cups have been taken down and there was no sign of a leak.

"Taking shots of the Pepsi cups, it looks funny. It doesn't look great for us, but there's not a bigger issue. Fans should still come out," Dobbins said.

The stadium has faced problems with leaks and flooding in the past. A clogged pipe caused a sewage backup and flooding on the bottom floor of the ballpark that sent the Seattle Mariners and Athletics scrambling around in towels in 2013.
