Fairfield Woman Seen Tossing Dog On Ground Arrested, Charged With Animal Cruelty

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- The Solano County District Attorney's Office Wednesday filed a felony animal cruelty and abuse charge against a woman who allegedly threw a pug dog to the ground in Fairfield last month.

Fairfield police and district attorney's office investigators arrested Fairfield resident Brandi Chin Wednesday in Vallejo, prosecutors said in a news release.

Fairfield police submitted investigative reports to the district attorney's office Tuesday and requested charges be filed against her.

Chin was captured in a surveillance camera video on Dec. 19 throwing Benny the pug to the ground after a dispute with her boyfriend.  Benny hit the ground and rolled over several times.

Law enforcement officials took possession of the dog, who was given to Solano County Humane Animal Services Friday. Police said an exam by a veterinarian determined Benny was not hurt and was in good health.

Police who searched for Chin thought she might have left Solano County.
