Head Of Coliseum Board Expected To Meet With Raiders Next Week

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The head of the authority that runs the Oakland Coliseum complex is tentatively scheduled to meet with Oakland Raiders President Marc Badain next week to discuss the next steps for the football team, City Councilman Larry Reid said Friday.

The Raiders applied to the National Football League to move to Carson this fall to share a new stadium with the San Diego Chargers but NFL owners rejected that plan on Tuesday.

The Raiders then withdrew their bid to move to the Los Angeles area but the team's future remains up in the air because their latest one-year lease at the O.co Coliseum expired at the end of the regular season two weeks ago.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said earlier this week that she hopes the Raiders will stay in Oakland for one more year so that talks can resume about building a new football stadium for the team in her city, but Raiders owner Mark Davis has been noncommittal about staying in Oakland this year.

A possible lease extension for the Raiders was on the agenda of Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority's meeting this morning but no action was taken because there wasn't yet anything to discuss.

Reid, who chairs the authority's board, said Scott McKibben, the authority's executive director, is tentatively scheduled to meet with Badain next week.

"We won't know anything until after that meeting," Reid said.
