Young Boy Wounded In Watsonville Early Morning Shooting

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- A nine-year-old boy was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center early Tuesday after being shot in his home in Watsonville, according to
police.

Police said at 3:57 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Ford Street on reports of a victim of a gunshot wound.

Once on scene, police said officers found the boy suffering from a single gunshot wound and medical personnel treated him at the scene before
airlifting him to the hospital. The wound is considered to be non-life threatening.

According to police, a possible suspect vehicle was heard speeding away from the area, however there is no description of the vehicle at this time.

Police said officers were only able to gather limited information about the incident.
