Man Fatally Shot In Downtown Oakland During Bloody Weekend Identified

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man shot and killed in downtown Oakland early Sunday morning during a bloody weekend when six other people were wounded by gunfire was identified as 32-year-old Jermaine Bradley of Oakland, according to police.

Bradley was found suffering gunshot wounds in the 1300 block of Harrison Street after police were alerted to gunfire at 4:14 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four people had already been wounded by gunfire in West Oakland on Saturday. Two other people were shot on Sunday during an argument over money at a homeless encampment in West Oakland, according to police.

The shooting at the encampment in the 3500 block of West Street happened at about 3:40 p.m. after a suspect demanded money from a 42-year-old man camping there, police said.

That man and another camper, a 30-year-old man, tried to stop the suspect from taking their possessions and he shot them both. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds and are expected to survive, police said.

On Saturday, four people were shot within 15 minutes of each other at two locations in West Oakland. A 52-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were shot near the corner of 24th and Chestnut streets at 8:44 p.m. and went to a hospital.

Another victim, a 17-year-old boy, was shot in the 700 block of Adeline Street at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

All of Saturday's shooting victims are expected to survive. Police did not announce any arrests or provide any descriptions of the suspects in this weekend's shootings.
