Ravi Kapur of Liholiho Yacht Club, and David Barzelay of Lazy Bear were both among the 11 chefs nationwide who were recognized by the magazine.
Kapur, born in Hawaii, uses a lot of island influences at his restaurant on Sutter Street, which is also a finalist for Best New Restaurant in the Country from the James Beard Foundation.
Barzelay’s restaurant Aspirations, like Kapur’s, started as a pop-up. Lazy Bear in the Mission is one of the few restaurants in the Bay Area using a ticketing system for restaurants.
Last year, the Bay Area was shut out in Food and Wine’s annual list.
