Former UC Berkeley Law Dean Files Grievance With Disciplinary Committee Over Sex Harassment Case
BERKELEY (KCBS) -- The former UC Berkeley law school dean who was disciplined for violating the university's sexual harassment policies has filed a grievance with the faculty disciplinary committee.
Sujit Choudhry resigned last month after he admitted to touching and kissing his former executive assistant. He was ordered to take a 10% pay cut, undergo training and apologize to the victim, but UC's president then also ordered disciplinary proceedings to go forward after the victim filed a civil suit last month.
Now, the LA Times is reporting Choudhry has filed a grievance saying the university is unjustly attacking his legal and academic rights. He claims UC destroyed his professional reputation and the second review is only for the University to save face in light of of other sexual misconduct cases.
A Cal spokesman says the university allows both administrators and faculty to take separate disciplinary actions.
