Rage Against The Machine Tease Major Announcement

By Amanda Wicks

(RADIO.COM) – Rage Against the Machine look to be planning something, but the looming question is what exactly?

The band launched a new website called Prophets of Rage, which features a countdown that ends on May 31st.

A fan-made twitter account shared a link to a new website with the hashtag #TakethePowerBack, which also happens to be a song from the band's self-titled 1992 album.

Fans are speculating the countdown could be leading to a single show date or full-blown tour announcement or, which would be all the more powerful since RATM hasn't toured since 2011 when they performed at the L.A. Rising Festival. Considering "Prophets of Rage" is a Public Enemy song, and one of that group's members, Chuck D, has been sharing RATM videos on Twitter, perhaps there a co-headlining tour in the works.

It also seems likely that this announcement is tied into the Los Angeles market as wheat-pasted posters have been spotted around Hollywood. Special poster art was sent to KROQ in Los Angeles, a rock station that has played the band's music since day one.

For now, the mystery remains, but considering the political upheaval taking place surrounding the 2016 presidential election, the politically charged RATM sure picked an ideal time to step out and play once again.
